New Nollywood action thriller, ‘Oloibiri’, has stirred a buzz, as it became a hot topic among public figures who attended the Lagos premiere of the film.
The movie, which vividly paints the hardship endured by locals in the titular town as a result of oil exploration, weaves a compelling story of greed, poverty, and vengeance.
The event was well attended by a number of public figures including a Former Head of State, General Yakubu Gowon, Former Secretary General of the Commonwealth, Emeka Antaoku, as well as a Former Minister of Information, Professor Jerry Gana, who was impressed by the overall message of the film.
He advocated for more of such movies that would push the government to take action on matters of grave importance.
“The message is clear and very powerful.
“This has succeeded, we should do more of it,” he said in an interview with Channels Television.
Oloibiri stars a stellar cast including veteran actor, Richard Mofe-Damijo, who also expressed hopes that the buzz the film has created would lead to further dialogue in the public sphere.
This, according to him, would bring the much needed respite to the local community which inspired the movie.
Other prominent cast include: Olu Jacobs, Taiwo Ajayi-Lycett, Ivie Okujaiye,
Ifeanyi Williams, Daniel K Daniel and William Moses among others.
Several stakeholders in the Nigerian film industry present at the event were equally impressed by the movie delivery as well as the overall production.
