Bala Nikyu's ladies recorded a slim win over the Lokoja based women side in preparation for the Fifa U17 Women's World Cup in Jordan billed for next month. Nigeria's U17 women national team defeated Confluence Queens 1-0 in a friendly match played at the Fifa Goal Project pitch on Thursday. Cynthia Aku's effort secured coach Bala Nikyu's side the all-impotant victory as the Jordan bound African side recorded their second win against the Kogi ladies in a back-to-back friendly encounters.
It is the second time both sides were meeting after they earlier met in February with the Flamingoes claiming a 2-1 victory in the first meeting through goals from Aku and Yetunde Fajobi strikes. On Monday, they recorded a 4-0 friendly victory against Sure Babes as they step up their final preparations for the Fifa U17 Women's World Cup for competition billed for Jordan in September.
The Flamingoes secured ticket for their fifth appearance with four wins in home and away games against Namibia and South Africa, scoring 16 goals and conceded none. Having been drawn in Group C against Brazil, England and Korea DPR, Nigeria will begin their campaign against Brazil on October 1, 2016 at the King Abdullah II International Stadium, Amman.
