The Paralympic Committee of Nigeria has named 23 athletes and 6 coaches that would represent Team Nigeria at the Rio 2016 Paralympic games from September 7-18 in Brazil.
Nigeria will compete in only three sports where the Paralympic body says it has comparative advantage at the games.
These include athletics, power-lifting and table-tennis.
6 athletes made up of 5 females and 1 male would compete in athletic events while 14 athletes are to take part in power-lifting events.
Only 3 athletes will be representing the country in the Table Tennis games.
Some of the selected athletes are: Eucharia Iyiazi, Hannah Babalola, Lovina Onyegbule, Flora Ugwunwa, Lauritta Onye, and the only male athlete, Friday Aigbanbe, while Patrick Aieto and Adekunle Adesoji will be the coaches.
There are hopes that Team Nigeria will perform well as it did in the London 2012 games, where the team won won 6 gold, 5 silver and 2 bronze medals.
