The paramount ruler of Elaite, in Ajaokuta Local Government Area of Kogi State, Aminu Akuh, who was kidnapped last Friday, has regained freedom.
The Ehtu of Alaite was allegedly kidnapped at night close to his domain while returning from Adogo headquarters of Ajaokuta.
Speaking shortly after his release in his palace where he had been receiving visitor, the monarch expressed gratitude to God, the state governor and the people of his domain, for his safe release.
He told Channels Television that his abductors, on discovery that he was a traditional ruler, treated him well throughout his captivity.
The paramount ruler also said that no ransom was paid to the abductors.
Kidnapping is on the increase in the state, with kidnappers requesting for huge sum of money as ransom.
Mr Akuh was abducted barely 24 hours after the kidnap of two judges in the state.
After his abduction, his family said the abductors had demanded for 10 million Naira as ransom.
A day after he was kidnapped, Kogi State Governor, Mr Yahaya Bello, declared total war on the kidnappers and cultists that have laid siege on the state.
The Governor’s decision was contained in a statement on Sunday by his Special Adviser on Media and Strategy, Mr Abdulkarim Abdullahi.
