A former Nigerian President, Olusegun Obasanjo, has recommended the use of operational telecommunications system to tackle some of the challenges facing Nigeria.
Obasanjo was speaking at a three-day conference on ‘Telecommunications Industry in the 21st Century’ held at the African Leadership Forum in Otta, Ogun State.
He noted that the poor condition of the communications system was slowing down Nigeria’s socio-economic development and good governance.
The former President asked the Federal Government to formulate effective short, medium and long term policy objectives to aid job creation.
He also asked operators to set out local content policy to improve research and development.
Obasanjo suggested effective public and private sector partnership in the telecommunications sector.
