The veteran Nigerian goalkeeper has committed to les Dogues for two more years to ward off interest from other clubs.
Former Nigeria goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama has signed a new two-year contract extension with Lille as announced by the club on Friday.
The 33-year-old had one more year with the French outfit but has seen his contract extended till 2019 to ward off interest from other clubs.
Speaking on the new contract with Enyeama, Lille’s deputy director general, Jean-Michel Vandamme spoke highly of the Nigerian.
“Vincent is an exceptional lad both on and off pitch. Continuing to work with a player of his caliber and a man of his quality is a fantastic thing for the club. He still has a lot of great days ahead of him and he showed once again in the season just past the full extent of his qualities,” Vandamme told the club’s website.
Enyeama rose to limelight as one of the best goalkeepers in France since his return from his second loan spell at Israeli outfit Maccabi Tel Aviv in 2013 and was named the 6th best shot-stopper in Europe in 2016.
The French outfit signed the former Enyimba captain in 2011 but loaned him out to Israeli outfit Hapoel Tel Aviv after he struggled to get a regular shirt but has since made an amazing 111 appearances for the club.
“He is happy at LOSC and feels at home here. He brings so much to the team through his talent, frame of mind and his capacity to boost the squad that we couldn’t afford not to extend his deal. Right now it looks like Vincent Enyeama could end his career here at LOSC,” Vandamme concluded.
Enyeama earned a remarkable 101 caps for Nigeria before his untimely retirement in 2015 from international football.
