West Brom striker, Saido Berahino, struck twice as Champions Chelsea were handed a rare 3-0 defeat at the Hawthorns on Monday night.
The Blues played most of the game with 10-men as Cesc Fabregas was shown a red card in the 29th minute as Chelsea were made to look ordinary and went down to one of their heaviest defeats this season.
The opening goal in Monday’s game came in the 9th minute through Berahino’s vicious long-range drive into the top corner.
While the Chelsea team set about trying to find an equaliser, they suffered a huge set back as Fabregas kicked the ball into the crowd of players from about 20 yards out and struck Chris Brunt, the action saw the ex-Arsenal midfielder shown a straight red card.
Chelsea held on through the first half but Jose Mourinho’s charges got off to the worst possible start in the second half when John Terry took Berahino out in the box, prompting the referee to award the Baggies a penalty.
The England striker stepped up to the spot and fired a low shot towards the bottom corner, and despite Courtois getting his fingers to the ball, he couldn’t stop it from trickling into the net.
Things got from bad to worse as Chelsea conceded a third goal when Brunt played a one-two with James Morrison and lashed home from outside the box.
Though Chelsea tried to get a face-saving goal, they failed in all their attempts and ended the game with three unreplied goals.
This is the third EPL defeat for Chelsea this season.
