Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, has said he will hand over to another governor of the state, who will emerge from the All Progressives Congress, at the end of his second term in office, in 2019.
He said this shortly after his inauguration for the second term in office on Friday at the M.K.O. Abiola International Stadium, Kuto, Abeokuta, Ogun State.
Amosun took his oath of office and oath of allegiance at about 11.48am after his deputy, Mrs Yetunde Onanuga, took her oaths at 11.39am.
The governor said there was still more work ahead, but promised that his administration would complete the ongoing projects and embark on new ones that would endear the APC to the people of the state.
He said, “We are the ones that can develop and rebuild Ogun State; nobody else can do it for us. But I cannot do it alone without your support.
“We will continue to work as a team to deliver projects that have direct bearing on the lives of the people. I hope by the time I will be leaving in 2019, I will handover to another governorship candidate of the APC.”
Amosun, who said his administration in the last four years had delivered dividends of democracy to the people of the state in the areas of infrastructure such as road construction, health care delivery, and education among others, noted that the government had also attracted 60 industries to the state in its investment drive.
Flanked by his wife, Olufunke, and his five children, the governor noted that he got the renewal of the mandate of the people at the April 11 governorship election as a result of their confidence in the party.
