The Nigerian Army says it has captured several armoured vehicles and artillery guns in a battle which repelled another attempt by members of Boko Haram to seize Maiduguri, the Borno State in north east Nigeria.
In a statement by the Defence Spokesman, Major-General Chris Olukolade, the Operation is part of Comprehensive Mission Supported by the Allied Neighbours.
He adds that the terrorists, who in their disarray strayed towards Bama, Ngom, Alou, Delwa and Mafa in the night have now been effectively contained. While Mop-up operation is ongoing.
Several weapons, arms and ammunition including two armoured vehicles and two artillery guns as well as 17 Hilux vehicles have been captured from them.

The defence spokesman also said that the affected locations have been secured and patrols and pursuit of fleeing terrorists is continuing in coordination with the allied forces.
Suspected Boko Haram insurgents had laid siege on Maiduguri, capital of Borno, north east Nigeria in an early Sunday attack which eye witnesses claim was carried out from different entry points.
Thousands of residents were said to have fled the city to neighbouring states as troops belonging to the Sector 6 Battalion of the Nigerian Army engaged the insurgents who have now attacked the town for the second Sunday in a row.
Eye witnesses say the troops engaged the insurgents in a heavy gun battle as the terrorists carried out a second attempt to take control of the barracks in the city.
A curfew had been placed on Maiduguri, following an attack by the terrorists on both Maiduguri and Monguno towns, last week Sunday.
