Ekiti Residents Call For End To Artificial Fuel Scarcity

Channels Tv
Residents of Ekiti State in western Nigeria are calling for an end to the artificial fuel scarcity gradually beginning to take its toll on business activities in the state.
The ongoing artificial fuel scarcity is gradually going round the 36 states of the federation, with Ekiti State witnessing long queues of motorists trying to purchase fuel.
The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria in Ekiti State told reporters on Friday that nothing could be done ‘until the depot price is reduced’.
Many filling stations have remained under lock and key.
The State Task Force said the government was working very hard to provide a lasting solution, but residents of Ekiti State, witnessing a hard time getting fuel, said the Federal Government had failed the country in so many ways.
Majority of Nigerians in different states depend on fuel to generate electricity in their homes and offices, since the nation can only generate a little above 4,000 megawatts at the moment for a population believed to  be over 150 million.
The government, last month, reduced the price of fuel from 97 Naira to 87 Naira per liter to reflect the current reality in the crude oil market that had seen decline in the price of crude.
