The Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria, FAAN, will Saturday assess the capacity of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, to respond to a bomb attack.
According to a statement signed the coordinating spokesperson of the Aviation agencies, Yakubu Datti, on Friday, the assessment will be conducted with Bomb Simulated Exercise 10 am and 11 am.
This, according Mr. Datti, who is also FAAN’s General Manager, Corporate Affairs, is an essential requirement that has to be fulfilled for certification by the International Civil Aviation Organisation.
While appealing to passengers not to panic in the course of the exercise, he added that the drill is intended to assess the Airport’s response procedures should real bomb explosion happen at the Terminal Building.
He said, “FAAN hereby appeals to passengers and the general public not to panic as adequate arrangements have been put in place to ensure as safe an environment as possible while the exercise lasts.”
In addition, he assured there would be no disruption to flight operations as a result of the exercise.
