CHANNELS TV
The Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company (PHEDC), has stated that the persistent power cut experienced in the four states under its jurisdiction is as a result of picketing of its offices by labour union.
The National Union of electricity employees had threatened to shut down operations in Rivers, Bayelsa, Cross River and Akwa Ibom States over labour issues.
The PHEDC has however in a statement signed by its spokesman given assurances that the situation is under control.
“The management of PHEDC, wishes to inform her esteemed customers that the blackout currently being experienced in most parts of her coverage area, is as a result of the organized labour action that barricaded and shut PHEDC offices and injection substations.
“This situation has made it impossible for power to be wheeled out to all our customers.
“The picketing and shutting down of offices have equally exposed our prepaid customers to difficulties in vending currently.
“However, we are very hopeful that the contentious issues raised by the labour leaders would be resolved soonest.
“We sincerely thank our customers who remained committed through their calls while regretting the inconvenience that the action has created.
