Nnamdi Kanu, Family Differ On Bail Conditions

CHANNELS TV
The Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, and his family have reacted differently to the bail granted him by a Federal High Court in Abuja.
Under the bail conditions, he is to present three sureties, one of whom must be a serving senator, a Jewish religious leader and a highly respected person who must own a landed property in the Federal Capital Territory. The bail sum is 100 million naira per surety.
The judge also warned Mr Kanu against granting press interviews, holding rallies or being in a gathering of more than 10 persons while on bail, noting that the bail would be revoked if he flouts any of the conditions.
Hours after the ruling, reports emerged that Kanu had rejected the bail.
The reports said father of the IPOB leader, Eze Israel Kanu, and his mother, Ugoeze Sally, had also rejected the bail conditions. According to the reports, the parents faulted Justice Nyako’s judgement, saying they want their son to be freed unconditionally.
Kanu’s lawyer, Ifeanyi Ejiofor, however, said he had not rejected the bail. Rather, he said the IPOB leader would meet the conditions within 48 hours.
