CHANNELS TV

As INEC wrapped up the Edo State governorship election on Thursday, the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has described the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as bad losers.
The APC Chairman in the state, Mr Anselm Ojezua, made the pronouncement while commenting on PDP’s reaction to the emergence of his party’s candidate, Mr Godwin Obaseki, as the winner of the election.
Mr Ojezua noted that the entire process of the election has been described as peaceful, adding that the rejection of the election results by the PDP was “an act of a bad loser”.

INEC’s Chief Returning Officer, Professor Kayode Soremekun on Thursday declared Mr Obaseki winner of the governorship polls.

Declaring the final results at the INEC Headquarters in Benin City, Professor Soremekun said that Obaseki scored 319,483 votes to beat his closest rival and the PDP candidate, Mr Osagie Ize-Iyamu who polled 253,173 votes.
The candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Mr Osaro Onaiwu, scored 876 while his Labour Party counterpart, Mr Amos Areloegbe polled 182 votes.

PDP’s Ize-Iyamu has, however, rejected the results declared by the electoral umpire.
He alleged that the voters were induced and that the state government collaborated with INEC to doctor the results in favour of the APC.
