CHANNELS TV
The Nigerian Army has donated a hand pump borehole to Kakura community in Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
Speaking during the donation, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 1 Division, Nigerian Army, Major General Adeniyi Oyebade, said that the gesture was part of the present administration’s effort at building a cordial military-civil relationship.
The GOC explained that he was touched by reports about the lack of portable water and other basic amenities in the community.
Gen. Oyebade, who addressed the Gbagyi dominated community, urged them to live in peace with their Fulani counterparts, stating that apart from safeguarding the nation, the Nigerian Army also supports their host communities in non-lethal ways.
Responding, the district head of Kaurah community, Ishaya Seriki, who spoke through an interpreter, lamented that the community had stayed for so long without portable water and other basic amenities.
He thanked the GOC for “giving life” to the community.
Asides the lack of water supply in Kakurah, the residents have also complained that the only primary school they have was built through community effort.
Therefore, they appealed to the state government to provide them with other basic amenities that will make life better for them.
