SEMA Calls On F.G To Speed Up Rehabilitation Of IDPs

The Director General of State Emergency Management Authority (SEMA) John Inaku, has called on the Federal Government to speed up its intervention plans, towards the rehabilitation of thousands of displaced people in the state following several degrees of disasters.
The DG made the call shortly after he led his team on a joint assessment to ascertain the extent of damages meted in each of the affected Communities and the kind of interventions needed.
The Natural disaster has rendered thousands homeless and a few struggling to repair the remains from the outcome of the natural menace.
In Yakurr, Abi and Obubura Councils, traces of gun shots, massive destruction of properties and people having fled their houses is the order of the day.
Beyond intervention to erect new structures and begin life again, the people desire a permanent solution to resolving communal clashes within communities and neighbouring State of Ebonyi.
Farmers claim that over three hundred of their Cocoa and other economic trees planted in their farms have been destroyed by harmful insects.
A representative from SEMA in the south-south zone has promised that the government will surely intervene.
He however cautioned communities to be mindful of disaster reduction.
