A total of 209 Air Force officers have undergone basic Airborne Training from the Nigerian Air Force Regiment Training Centre, in Kaduna State, with a mandate to assist in the fight against terrorism and other security challenges in the country.
At the graduation ceremony of the officers on Saturday, the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, said the aim of the training is to build an efficient force capable of responding to any security challenge anywhere in the country.
He also expressed satisfaction with the performance of the officers, stating that some of them would be deployed to some troubled areas in the country.
Commandant of the Centre, Air Commodore Dankad Bausa, explained that the training is to ensure that the officers are physically and mentally sound to confront any emergency situations whenever they arise.
He also highlighted some of the challenges encountered in the course of the training, which include inadequate training aid, classrooms and accommodation.
Air Marshal Abubakar said the Force will continue to provide equipment, facilities and environment for training schools to impart the desired knowledge on the officers.
According to the authorities, the training is designed to achieve vigorous physical conditioning to produce physically-fit and skilled elite troops, tailored towards mental alertness, discipline, self-confidence, bravery, team spirit and high sense of loyalty.
