CHANNELS TV

Road users plying the Calabar – Itu – Ikot Ekpene – Aba Road in Odukpani Local Government Area of Cross River State are calling on the Federal Government to reconstruct the road in Cross River State, Nigeria.
The road which was constructed about 40 years ago has become a death trap to most people who ply the road on a daily basics either for commercial or other purposes.
The Residents decried government’s negligence on the reconstruction of the road inspite of out cries from victims who have suffered many ordeals on the road due to its narrowness, thereby leading to continuous multiple accidents.
Other residents reasoned that the entire road had outlived its life span and needs complete reconstruction.
The State Commissioner for Works, Eng. Dane Osim-Asu has promised to bring the Federal Governments presence to the lingering problem.
The damaged state of the road has crippled economic activities as motorists now spend extra days on a particular spot without being able to move.
Several reports concerning awarding contracts for the road has for over ten years been on papers without commencement of work.
As the rain sets in, it is hoped that a permanent solution to the road will be addressed once and for all for the dividends of democracy to be felt by the masses.
