The former Inspector General of Police, Mr Solomon Arase, has appealed to the Acting Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris to build a culture of effective policing through policies and programs that will ensure public consent and confidence.
Mr Arase made the appeal at a forum with members of Civil Rights Organisations in Abuja on how to ensure effective policing by the Nigeria Police Force.
According to him, effective policing cannot be achieved through might alone, it requires public consent and a robust intelligence network.

He appealed to the new police boss to improve on existing standards toward achieving effective policing.
