Ashir Sheriff, an aide to a former Nigeria’s Permanent Representative at the United Nations, Maitama Sule, has debunked speculations that his principal has passed on.
An online publication ran a story, saying the pioneer Commissioner of the Public Complaints Commission died on Monday.
But Mr. Sheriff told PREMIUM TIMES that the elder statesman, who holds the traditional title of Dan Masanin Kano, is “alive, hale and hearty”.
“We just arrived Abuja today for a function in Nasarawa State tomorrow. The rumour is malicious and unfounded,” he said.
“As I speak to you now, he is observing his Asr prayer in his hotel room. He has not even shown sign of any sickness,” he said.
Mr. Sheriff called on people to verify stories before publishing.
