The Kwara State Governor, Abdulfatah Ahmed, has challenged religious institutions to build moral standard and create efficient platform to make Nigeria forge ahead.
Similarly, the governor tasked religious bodies to foster peace and harmony for the development of the state and Nigeria as a whole.
Governor Ahmed made the call when he received members of the first Evangelical Church of West Africa (ECWA), led by the Minister-in-Charge of First ECWA Ilorin, Rev Sunday Ajise at the Government House, Ilorin.
The Governor urged the church to continue to mould youths who would live peacefully with other members of the society irrespective of their diversities.
Governor Ahmed congratulated members of the church for their contributions to education, social and economic development since its establishment 70 years ago and described faith leaders of all persuasions as critical forces in the quest for national rebirth against the backdrop of prevailing national challenges.
According to the governor, there was no better time than now, when the nation is grappling with national insecurity and economic meltdown, for religious leaders to be in the vanguard of national re-orientation.
He added that the Nigerian youth must be made to imbibe values of shunning religious bias by appreciating the strength in diversity.
The Governor expressed the readiness of his administration to partner faith based organisations in human capacity development so as to widen employment generating opportunities in the state.
