The Commandant of the Police Staff College, Jos, AIG Joseph Mbu, has made a call for urgent attention to be given to the various Police colleges that need renovation across the country.
He made the call during a graduation ceremony held at the Police Staff College.
He urged the Presidency to set up a special committee that will look into the present situation and condition of Police colleges as well as the Staff College before embarking on the next recruitment exercise.
Assistant Inspector General of Police, Joseph Mbu observed that the colleges are in bad conditions and should be renovated before the recruitment, while contractors that refuse to work on some projects at the Staff College should be prosecuted.
A total of 97 officers of the rank of Deputy Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent of Police drawn from various Police commands across the country had graduated from the Police Staff College, Jos in North Central Nigeria after a six weeks intensive training in Advanced Detective Course.
AIG Mbu, in his address to the participants, also stressed the importance of discipline as the bedrock of professionalism in the Police.
The Advanced Detective Course is to develop the manpower resources and improve the professional capability of officers.
It also updates participants with modern and contemporary trends in intelligence led policing, crime prevention, detection techniques and prosecution of cases among others.
