Tricycle Drivers Protest Against Hike In Price Of Ticket

Channels Tv
Tricycle operators also known as Keke Drivers are protesting in Asaba causing traffic in the city.
Alleging that the cost of their tickets was increased from 250 naira to 300 naira, they carried out their protest at the popular Inter-Bau roundabout in Asaba the state capital, carrying placards condemning the increase which they claimed was done without informing them.
They berated the Delta State Commercial Motorcycle and Tricycle Union Asaba who sold the tickets to them, adding that they no longer require the services of a union.
With the protest, vehicular movement became slow and passengers got stranded as drivers carrying them were halted and forcefully made to discharge their passengers.
Meanwhile the Secretary of the Union, Emmanuel Afatakpa, while throwing more light on the reason for the increase, explained that it was necessitated by the reintroduction of the road tax by the Delta State Government.
