Based on allegations of malpractices and innuendoes going around, the Inspector-General of Police is seeking partnership with an independent examination body for the force.
He has, therefore, suspended the screening of officers with higher educational qualification for promotion.
IGP Solomon Arase made the disclosure on December 24, 2015 during a meeting with the Police Management Team where he explained that the exercise was put on hold after consultation with the Police Service Commission.
According to a statement by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olabisi Kolawole, the Police Management Team and the Police Service Commission agreed to put on hold the screening exercise of Policemen who acquired Degrees or Higher National Diplomas while in service.
“The Police High Command and Police Service Commission have decided to engage the services of independent assessor for neutrality and free exercise. When the exercise is completed, each state of the federation will have equal number of representation.
“The IGP enjoined all qualified Policemen to be patient and ensure they attend the oncoming screening exercise to be scheduled by the independent body.
“He assured that all qualified Policemen will be considered appropriately,” the statement read.
