The Special One insists he won't be taking a break following his sacking by Chelsea and, according to reports, he is in line to succeed Louis van Gaal at Old Trafford.
The writing appears to be on the wall for Louis van Gaal, with Jose Mourinho already reportedly in talks over succeeding his former mentor at Manchester United, according to The Sun.
Van Gaal left his dugout to a chorus of boos following Saturday’s home defeat to Norwich. Having also crashed out of the Champions League at the group stage, the Dutchman has now presided over the club’s worst run of form for 17 years.
Mourinho, who revealed he had no intention of taking a break from the game after he was sacked by Chelsea last week, is among one of the leading candidates to revitalise the 20-times champions of England, and The Sun say negotiations have already begun.
Following the embarrassing defeat to the Canaries, opposition who had conceded four goals on their previous two visits to Old Trafford, a staggering 86 per cent of Goal readers voted in favour of sacking Van Gaal ahead of the weekend’s ominous looking trip to Stoke.
"Of course I am worried about [Mourinho's sacking] because belief in a manager is very important," Van Gaal told reporters on Saturday. "And when you lose as a manager that confidence decreases.
"That is happening now, and I cannot close my eyes to that."
