The Inspector General of Police, Solomon Arase, says he will ensure that road blocks never return to Nigeria’s policing system, even after he has left office.
Mr Arase also said that he would create a structure to replace it.
He, however, told reporters in Benin City, the capital of Edo State, that he was a child of providence and that he would put in his best as the Inspector General of Police.
Mr Arase agreed that he might not have been the best officer before being appointed, but stressed he had resolved to leave the force better than he met it.
Some of what he said he would like to accomplish, is to deal with cultism, improve police welfare and rejig the Police Public Relations.
