Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, has extended an olive branch to the opposition towards the greater good of state’s citizens.
Governor Ortom made the offer after the state election petition tribunal which sat in Makurdi, the state’s capital, upheld his election in the April 11 governorship poll.
His victory at the tribunal followed the petition filed by the Peoples Democratic Party’s candidate, Terhemen Tarzor, who challenged his election.
Mr Tarzor had challenged Governor Ortom’s eligibility and membership of the All Progressives Congress at the tribunal in April 2015.
In her judgment, Justice Elizabeth Kelatu, held that the petitioner failed to provide the register of the PDP in Nzorov ward in Guma Local Government Area, where it claimed that Governor Ortom had been a member of the party all along.
The Benue State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal, on Monday, upheld the election of Mr Samuel Ortom as Governor of Benue State.
