Revenue Sharing Issues Top Talks At Governors Forum Meeting

Channels Tv
The issues surrounding the sharing of revenues accruing to the Federation Account are top on the agenda at a meeting of the Nigerian Governors Forum currently taking place in the nation’s capital, Abuja.
The meeting is holding behind closed doors at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel.
At least 23 governors are present at the meeting where the Governors are expected to reach an agreement on revenue sharing that they would present to the Federal Government.

It is the first time the Governors are meeting after about three years following the emergence of two factional chairmen after an election that resulted in disagreement.
Each of the two factions were led by former Governors of Rivers and Plateau States, Rotimi Amaechi And Jonah Jang respectively.
However, at a recent reconciliatory meeting of the Governors, the Governor of Zamfara State, Abdullaziz Yari, was appointed chairman of the forum, and is believed to be presiding over Wednesday’s meeting.

Some Governors of the All Progressives congress on Monday requested for a bailout from the Federal Government, saying ‘dwindling revenue’ has affected the payment of workers salaries.
The NLC had said that about 18 states’ governors are owing over 8 months salaries.
