Tunisian manufacturers, under the auspices of the Union of Industry, Commerce and Handcrafts, have concluded plans to meet with businessmen in Lagos on Monday to explore business opportunities and improve trade relations between Nigeria and Tunisia.

The Tunisian Ambassador to Nigeria, Dr. Hattab Haddaoui, who said this in an interview in Abuja on Friday, explained that the multi-sectoral delegation would discuss business ideas and opportunities with interested businessmen, industrialists, manufacturers, artisans and others for five days at Eko Hotel, Lagos.

He said, “This mission is part of effort  to boost the trade relations between Nigeria and Tunisia, to consolidate on the growth of companies in the two countries and explore business opportunities.

“Proprietors of different businesses from engineering, services, supplies, optical sector, electronics manufacturing, electric appliances producers, electric transformers and so on, will all participate in the business meeting, as well as auto spare parts manufacturers and dealers.”

The envoy explained that the Tunisian delegation would also meet with various Chambers of Commerce and Industries and other business groups in Nigeria, including producers of animal feeds and agricultural products.

He added that doing business with Tunisia was more rewarding for Nigerian businessmen, noting that it makes financial and logistics sense to import goods and commodities from his country as they conform to European standards.

Haddaoui described the increasing bilateral relations between Nigeria and Tunisia as a win-win situation for both countries, stressing that Nigeria had a lot to gain from the advancement his country had recorded in manufacturing, technologies, agriculture and animal husbandry among others.

The ambassador said, “Doing business with Tunisia is more rewarding for Nigerian businessmen because Tunisian products are competitive and cheaper. Tunisia exports to Europe and Nigerians go to Europe to buy our products, but its cheaper for them to import the same products directly from Tunisia. This is better for the economy of Nigeria and Tunisia.”
