The Anambra State chapter of the Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria on Tuesday suspended its strike.

The union had resumed the strike on Monday following a breakdown of the   agreement it reached with the state government in March which made it to suspend the action then.

The state chairman of JUSUN, Comrade Mark Ifezue, told newsmen that the suspension was as a result of positive response from the state government on the issue.
Following this development, most courts in Awka , the state capital, which were under lock and key on Monday, were reopened on Tuesday.

Reacting to this, the Chief Registrar of the state High Court, Mrs. Doris Ezeani, described it as a welcome development.
She said with this the state Chief Judge’s tour of prisons in the state next week would be hitch-free.

She said, “The Chief Judge’s prison tour will take him to Awka, Aguata and Onitsha prisons.”
According to Ezeani, it will afford some of the inmates in the three prisons to regain their freedom especially the aged and those who are sick.
