Post National Conference Summit Holds In Ondo State

Ondo State Government has organised a one day summit aimed at translating the recommendations of the 2014 National Conference as they relate to the interest and benefits of the Yoruba nation.

According to Ondo State Governor, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko, convener of the summit held in Akure, the state capital, the summit was of uttermost importance, especially as Nigeria prepares for a general election.

Key political players in the South Western states of Nigeria: Lagos, Ogun, Oyo, Osun, Ondo and Ekiti converged on Akure, for the one day summit on the 2014 National Conference, which was organised by President Goodluck Jonathan.

The summit had the theme: The National Conference, the 2015 Elections and the Yoruba Nation.

Political leaders at the summit included: Governor Olusegun Mimiko of Ondo State and his deputy, Alhaji Ali Olanusi, Afenifere leader, Chief Ayo Adebanjo; Chief Femi Okunrounmu; Minister State for Works, Dayo Adeyeye; Founder of Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC), Dr. Frederick Fasehun; OPC leader, Chief Gani Adams, Dr. Kunle Olajide and a former Deputy Governor of Ekiti State, Abiodun Olujimi amongst others.

Chief Ayo Adebanjo, who chaired the summit kick-started the programme with his opening remarks.

Ondo State Governor, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko who was the Convener of the summit emphasised the benefits of the recommendations of the report of the 2014 national conference.

He informed that the essence of the summit was to look into the gains of the Yoruba nation from such recommendations so as to ensure the people take right decisions in the forthcoming elections.

Goodwill messages came from some Yoruba leaders present including, Dr. Frederick Fasehun, Chief Gani Adams and Mr. Dayo Adeyeye.

At the end of the summit, the Chairman, Chief Ayo Adebanjo read the nine point communique which major point was the declaration of support for the second term bid of President Goodluck Jonathan.

Meanwhile, the leader of the South West delegation to the national conference, Chief Olu Falae was unavoidably absent but sent his apology.
