The Nigerian Navy has issued a code of conduct for the forthcoming general elections to its personnel.
The code of conduct was issued according the directive by the Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Usman Jibrin.
The code contains details aimed at educating naval personnel on the do’s and don’ts during the polls.
The code of conduct stipulates that officers must not carry any offensive weapon to polling booths.
“Officers must not conduct themselves in an unruly manner, they must not disobey any lawful order of the presiding officer,’’ it says.
It also warned the officers not to escort or provide any means of protection to election officials and materials without the authority of the commanding officer.
“You must not be in possession of more than one registration card; you must not distribute or display any election material in the ship,’’ it adds.
Meanwhile, the News Agency of Nigeria, NAN, has reported that the Nigerian Navy Ship “Centenary’’ is to arrive in the country later this week from China.
