Man fakes death to get out of his wedding

Lagos – A US man faked his own death in order to get out of his wedding to his girlfriend of two years, Huffington Post reports.

Tucker Blandford met Alex Lancaster, who is from the United Kingdom, when she was attending college in Connecticut. The two had a whirlwind romance until Lancaster had to return home and Blandford proposed.

According to Lancaster, they spoke each day, planned their wedding and she had spent money on invitations, a dress and flights for him to visit her, but then she got a phone call from someone claiming to be Blandford’s father who said that Blandford had committed suicide.

Lancaster was devastated but when she phoned to Blandford’s mother to sympathise with the family his mother had no clue that her son was dead. She said he was alive and well, she had heard that they had split and had no idea about their wedding.

Blandford later apologized for his actions and has paid back half of the wedding expenses that he owes Lancaster and said that he wanted to get out of their relationship and felt that everything was moving too fast.
