Jonathan sympathises with Ebola-infected doctors

news 24
Lagos - President Goodluck Jonathan paid tribute to medical officers who contracted the deadly Ebola while treating American-Liberian Patrick Sawyer, the country’s first victim of the virus.
Jonathan sympathised with the families of those who had since lost their lives in the process and promised that his administration would ensure survivors received the best medical attention.
Earlier this week, Nigeria recorded the fifth Ebola virus fatality with the death of Dr Stella Adadevoh, a consultant physician, in Lagos.

She was a consultant endocrinologist and the first Nigerian to be diagnosed with the disease after attending to the late Sawyer.

Speaking at an event in the presidential villa to mark the World Humanitarian Day, Jonathan saluted the courage of the medical officers fighting the scourge.
“I want to use this occasion to salute the courage of these medical personnel and condole with the families of those that lost their lives.
Government is doing everything possible to ensure that those still alive get the best medical attention, while praying to God to save their lives,”
Jonathan said.

Nigeria is one of several West African countries affected by the worst outbreak of the Ebola virus in years.
