Senate President Bukola Saraki has sworn in three newly elected federal lawmakers from Rivers state.
The Senators, Magnus Abe, George Sekibo and Osinakachukwu Ideozu, emerged winners in a highly contested and violent senatorial rerun election which took place on December 10, 2016.
Saraki after congratulating the newly sworn in Senators said: “they just came from a tough election”
Mr Abe represents Rivers South East, Sekibo, Rivers East, while Ideozu, would be for Rivers West.
The seats for the three senatorial districts have been vacant for nearly a year after a court of appeal ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), to conduct a rerun election in the state.
Meanwhile, the Senate has now adjourned sitting till January 10, 2017.
