The Legacy of colonial era film maker, Adeyemi Afolayan, popularly known as ‘Ade love’, is set to return to mainstream, as his classic films including the Taxi Driver series and Kadara, get special screening, to celebrate the life and times of one of the pioneers of African cinema.
Leading the charge to bring back some of the his works, is prominent film maker and son of Ade love, Kunle Afolayan, who has earned many accolades as a film maker himself.
“Concerning the ‘Ade love’ 20 years remembrance, it is like a dream for me, because this man passed 20 years ago and we’ve never really celebrated him.
“Apart from the fact that he was my father, he has given some of us life,” he told Channels Television.
Furthermore, he said that he was looking forward to the event because “there were so many things we would reveal to people that they don’t know about, as far as film making in Africa is concerned, as far as cinema is concerned, as far as the guy himself is concerned”.
He also hinted that the Ade love family would put together a stage performance to entertain the audience on the big day.
According to Afolayan, the feedback so far from people, both those from his father’s generation and the younger generation, who don’t know so much about him, already shows him that the event is indeed one to look forward to.
The new generation film maker, who has equally continued to grace the Nigerian cinema with his unique productions, said this would be an opportunity for people to experience what film making really used to be way back.
