The Nigeria international has been linked with a move to the St. Mary's Stadium with Moyes looking to reinforce his washed-out forward line Victor Anichebe is open to a move to English Premier League side, Sunderland to reunite with former manager David Moyes. The Nigeria is without a club since leaving West Bromwich Albion in May owing to a rocky time plagued with injuries at the Hawthorns.
And with Black Cats’ forward Fabio Borini out for three months with a groin injury, Moyes could snap up his former striker at Everton to form a combo with Jermain Defoe in his attack. "We worked incredibly hard to try and get a striker in all through the window, some we had," Moyes told Sunderland Echo.
"This year, with only being to loan two players from Premier League clubs has had an effect on me being able to do more business in that way. "Obviously the striking situation was one of them. We didn't get anything late on, which we thought we would do.
"We may have to go and look into somebody who could give us an alternative for coming off the bench or a wee bit of back-up through the season." Dimitar Berbatov, Nicklas Bendtner and Peter Odemwingie are also in the mix to team up with the St. Mary’s Stadium lords. Sunderland are 16th on the EPL log with one point from three games and they host Everton in their next game on September 12.
