In a statement that is going to rile many Arsenal fans, Gunners legend, Patrick Vieira, has declared that former Chelsea manager and eternal nemesis of Arsene Wenger, Jose Mourinho, had more impact on him as a player and now as a coach.
Vieira, who led the famous Arsenal team that went the 2003/04 season unbeaten, is now coach of Major League Side, New York City FC, but has a statue at the Emirates.
“He’s [Mourinho] the manager who had more influence on me,” Vieira told the Times
He then elaborated, “Because he was the one who impressed me most on his work ethic. He knew everything about the opposition, the strength, weakness.
“His detail was unbelievable; everything was so clear about what he wanted from each player.
“I don’t know what happened at Chelsea but he always got the best out of his players,” he added.
Some may see the comment as Vieira’s way of getting back at Wenger for the way and manner he was discarded by the Arsenal manager in 2005.
