The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has donated medical equipments worth over N30 Million Naira to the University of Calabar Teaching Hospital (UCTH) as parts of its corporate social responsibility to the Niger Delta region.
Items donated include hospital beds, wheel chairs, mobile patient trolleys, medium waste bins, mobile bed screening among others.
Presenting the items to the management of UCTH, the NDDC Commissioner in Cross River State, Paul Ada said since inception, the commission has remained committed to providing services to the people of Niger Delta region.
Receiving the items, the Chief Medical Director of the hospital, Dr Thomas Agan said the donation was a relief to the hospital following the recent economic meltdown which has dwindled allocations to the hospital.
According to him, since the hospital relocated from the previous location at Moore Road to the permanent site it has been difficult managing the hospital due to poor funding from government.
He maintained that, with the items donated by NDDC, the hospital would spend less in setting up other infrastructures to make them functional.
