Deputy Chief Imam, National Mosque Abuja, Dr. Muhammad Kabir, on Friday urged Muslims across the country to live in peace wherever they found themselves.
Kabir, who gave the admonition shortly after the two Rakat Eid el-Fitr prayers in Abuja, said there was no better time than now to pursue peace as the country battles serious security challenges.
He said the essence of life was to live in peace, harmony and be our brother’s keepers at all times.
He urged Nigerians to complement the Federal Government’s efforts towards tackling insurgency head-on, adding that security was the collective responsibility of everybody.
“I have no doubt in my mind that the Almighty Allah will soon put an end to all the challenges facing the country.
“I also have no doubt in my mind that with serious and sincere prayers, the country will win the war on the insurgency.”
Kabir commended the security agencies for their doggedness and urged them to improve on their intelligence gathering, if their quest to surmount the insurgency was to be achieved.
He further advised politicians to unite and pursue one cause that would benefit the entire citizenry.
