BVN Registration: Bank Customers Call For more Personnel

Channels Tv
Bank customers across the country are appealing to various banks in Nigeria to engage more manpower to handle the Bank Verification Number (BVN) registration exercise.
The request is coming following the extension of the deadline for BVN registration exercise by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
The customers made the plea on Thursday while they willingly queued up at bank premises, following the extension deadline for the registration exercise.
The BVN exercise was commissioned by the Bankers Committee as part of its financial inclusion strategies which would enable banks to know their customers better, while tracking their credit records and other details which would aid the operation of banks in general.
The exercise includes getting customers biometrics, with the use of fingerprints, and facial image, after which the customer would be given a BVN.
Sequel to the overcrowding in various banks of the country by customers to beat the deadline, the CBN had extended the deadline for the registration exercise from June 30 to October 31.
The bank customers, however, expressed that the tasks of registering the teeming population of customers cannot be efficiently handled by the available personnel.
