Resident Doctors at the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) Teaching Hospital in Osogbo, have joined the increasing number of protesters demanding for their unpaid eight months salaries from the ‎Osun State Government.
Leading the protest within and around the hospital premises in Osogbo the state capital on Thursday, President of the Association of Resident Doctors of Nigeria, LAUTECH Osogbo chapter, Dr. Olalekan Ajayi, said that the doctors have been very patient with the state government in anticipation that the salary issues would be resolved quickly.
Dr. Ajayi said although all other associations in the medical profession have embarked on industrial actions to press home their demands, the resident doctors have not gone on strike because they believe dialogue would bring a positive result.
The doctors appealed to Governor Rauf Aregbesola to assist the workers and look for all possible ways to ensure payment of the backlog of salaries to alleviate the suffering of the workers and restore sanity to the state.
Various placards with inscriptions calling for the intervention of the government were on display during the protest.
