President Muhmadu Buhari has finally moved into the Aso Rock presidential villa, Abuja.
The president relocated to the sprawling property Sunday evening almost three weeks after his inauguration.
A presidential aide had explained recently that Mr. Buhari could not move into his official residence because renovation works were still going on.
The president’s wife, Aisha, moved in there on Thursday ahead of her husband.
Mr. Buhari had travelled to Kaduna and Katsina states when his wife relocated.
Sources said Mr. Buhari was in Kaduna where he traditionally commenced the annual Ramadan fast, while he went to Katsina to confer with closed friends and relatives and to also hand over some of his personal undertakings, including the running of his farm in Daura his home town, to his son, Yusuf.
Sources at the presidential villa said Mr. Buhari arrived there at about 6p.m. on Sunday with security aides and staff on hand to receive him.
Meanwhile, PREMIUM TIMES gathered that Vice President Yemi Osinbajo was yet to move into his Aguda House official residence because of renovation works.
“The VP is in Lagos where he normally goes for weekend, but I am not sure he would move in even when he returns because they are still working in Aguda House,” a source said.
He also said as at Sunday, some of the tiles in some of the rooms were being replaced.
“The former second lady liked burning incense which affected some of the rugs and tiles on the floor. The work is almost complete but the engineers felt there is need to replace some of the tiling,” he said.
Our source added that Mr. Osinbajo might continue to work and stay at Asokoro where he had been operating from since his inauguration.
Another source said Mr. Osinbajo’s wife travelled out of the country ahead of her husband’s trip to Lagos, but could not say whether she would return before her husband moves into their Aguda House official residence.
Before moving into Aso Rock Sunday, President Buhari had shuttled between the Defence House in Maitama and his personal residence in the Asokoro district, where he works and lives respectively.
