The Presidency and the Minister of Education, Ibrahim Shekarau, on Saturday boycotted the coronation of the Emir of Kano, Muhammad Sanusi II.
Mr. Shekarau, who is the Sardauna of Kano, was conspicuously absent at the venue.
However, former Head of States, Yakubu Gowon, and Muhammadu Buhari, as well as the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aminu Tambuwal, the Sultan of Sokoto, Sa’ad Abubakar, and the governors of Sokoto, Kaduna, Niger, Yobe, Katsina were present at the event.
Other dignitaries at the event includes the ambassadors of the United State of America, Italy, Canada and the British High Commissioner.
The state governor, Rabiu Kwankawso, said the event was held despite several challenges.
He noted that the Emir, a former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, was appointed because of his overwhelming capacity, humility, honesty and above all fear of God which he exhibited in all his dealings.
