One of the co-founders of the Future Awards Africa, Adebola Williams, says the award is set out to inspire change amongst young people in Nigeria.
On Channels Television’s programme, Rubbin’ Minds, Mr Williams said that the 9th edition, like other editions of the award, would also focus on how to correct stereotypes and fire up young Africans, who see lack of basic amenities, presence of Malaria and Ebola as constraints, and make them tap into their abilities and attain their full potentials.
“It is an evening of hope and faith to renew our faith in our country and in our continent,” he said, describing the event that will hold at the intercontinental Hotel on Saturday.
“It will be an evening to give hope to the hopeless. People need their hope and faith renewed in the continent. They need to find hope again.”
He pointed out that the awards are focusing on Africa because the problem of Africa was synonymous and that most young people were becoming laid back.
“We want to build young people who have capacity. And we have the message that our continent can be great and that we have the power to make it great.”
The organisers are looking to build young people that are entrepreneurs and inspire leadership.
They are also organising a stop Ebola campaign that is aimed at kicking Ebola out of Africa.
Mr Williams said that the night would be an exciting night for young people that like entertainment. Iyanya, Ice Prince, Osas and others will be live at the event to entertain.
