The controversial – The Interview – movie about the assassination of North Korean leader, Kim Jong Un, by Sony Pictures has sold out in several cinemas in the United States.

The Interview movie, which opened midnight on Christmas Day, attracted moviegoers who said they supported the studio’s decision to go ahead with the premiere of the low-budget comedy, despite threats by cyber hackers, who the United States government tagged as the North Korean government in disguise.
Following a 9-11 style attack on all cinemas who show the movie, major cinemas refused to release the film.
However, Americans described the threats as an attack on freedom of speech.
“You know, this is a film I probably would not have come to see but because of the controversy I thought I would come out tonight to stand up for freedom of speech,” said Tamsin Hollow, who showed up for the Los Angeles screening, according to Reuters.
Some movie theaters showing the film were taking security measures to protect against any possible attacks.

“We’ve been working really closely with local law enforcement officials, as have all of the other theaters in the Art House Convergence, a network of independent art house theaters,” said Christian Parkes, chief branding officer for Alamo Drafthouse Cinema in Ashburn, Virginia.
