Nigerians in foreign countries have been asked to repatriate skills and knowledge back home for the purpose of nation building.
A group of returnee Nigerian professionals in the diaspora reached out to other Nigerians in the diaspora on Monday in Lafia during the group sallah homage visit to Governor Tanko Al-makura of Nasarawa State.
The Managing Director of Dangote Sugar Refinery, Mr Abdullahi Sule, stressed that Nigerian professionals abroad, unlike their counterparts from China, India and Korea, are unwilling to repatriate their skills back home for inclusive growth and development.
At the meeting were prominent sons and indigenes of Nasarawa State, including the heads of Security Agencies at the Government House.
Some of the visiting groups came with good news for the people of the state while celebrating. They told the governor that plans were on for some Nigerian professionals abroad to visit Nasarawa State for the transfer of knowledge in the areas of education and health.
Mr Sule pointed out that insecurity in some parts of Nigeria and other challenges were some of the reasons Nigerians in foreign countries had refused to give back to their motherland.
For governor Al-makura, the collaboration came in handy, as the state government had declared a state of emergence on education. He listed technical colleges and special schools as institutions to benefit from a programme that the state in collaboration with indigenes in the diaspora would begin to address issues in the education sector.
He said that inclusive development could only be attained if citizens worked together with the government in transforming the state.
At the end of the meeting, Governor Al-makura told reporters that issues of peace and sacrifice topped the discussion he had with the visitors.
