Channels Tv
The police have warned the Peoples Democratic Party in Benue State against holding any counter rally on Wednesday as only that of the All Progressive Congress (APC) had been approved to hold in Makurdi, the state capital.
The Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr Omololu Bishi, gave the warning on Tuesday after parading 12 suspected criminals.
Governor Ortom, however, clarified through his Chief Press Secretary, Terver Akase, that the PDP’s youth rally will go on as planned in 22 local councils, excluding Makurdi where the APC’s presidential campaign is scheduled to hold.
Consequently, he said the rally has been shifted to Thursday.
He said, “I am aware that the leadership of the party, the state chairman of the PDP, has contacted the police to let them know that the party and the government of Benue state which is controlled by the PDP, recognizes that Mr President would be in the state tomorrow and has, therefore, asked that youth rallies should hold in 22 Local Government Areas and not Makurdi which has been moved to Thursday”.
