Anambra State Governor Willie Obiano says his party, the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), has never rigged an election.

Obiano who is APGA’s candidate for the state governorship election, said this on Tuesday as his party prepares for the November 18 poll.

“We do not believe in rigging, APGA has never rigged an election,” he told State House correspondents in Abuja shortly after meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari at the Aso Villa.

“All we want is for the umpires to be unbiased – free and fair election – and you will get the result.”

The governor was hopeful of a free and fair election, saying he had gotten the president’s assurance that the poll would be conducted without any interference.

He said the president is happy with the series of development strides by his administration towards making life easier for the people of Anambra State.

“He’s (Buhari) reassured free and fair election, that’s what should be important to me.

“He likes governors like me; (governors) who are hardworking, who are delivering on what people can see, who are bringing dividends of democracy to their people, that’s what the president wants.”

“He doesn’t care about your party, he wants to know that you are doing well in this area, in that area, and that’s how a president should work,” said Obiano.
