A Federal Lawmaker in Nigeria, Senator Abdulkadir Jajere, says some lawmakers are putting together plans to impeach President Goodluck Jonathan.

Speaking in an interview with journalists, Senator Jajere said the lawmakers would raise the motion to impeach President Jonathan when the Senate resumes on December 16.
He said the lawmakers intend to impeach President Jonathan for breaching the constitution by spending more than the amount appropriated for fuel subsidy and also his handling of the security crises in the country.
However, a Federal Lawmaker, Senator Ayogu Eze told Channels Television that there are no plans to impeach President Jonathan.
Another member if the House of Representatives, Mr Peter Gumtha, had told Channels Television on Monday that lawmakers of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) would not be a party to any impeachment plan.
He reiterated that no honourable member of the House would put their hands to sign an impeachment letter against the President.

“PDP members will never be a party to any impeachment plan. I am disputing the claims that some members of PDP has put down their names in support of any impeachment plan” he said.
